		The Addams Family began in the 1930s as a comic in The New Yorker drawn by Charles Addams.
		A new cast was introduced: Raul Julia (Kiss Of The Spider Woman) as Gomez, the suave leader of the clan; Anjelica Huston (The Grifters) as Gomez's wife Morticia; Christina Ricci (The Opposite Of Sex) as daughter Wednesday; and Christopher Lloyd (the Back To The Future trilogy) as Gomez's oafish brother Fester ("It means 'to rot'!").
		The Addams family is the embodiment of the unfulfilled desire—not just in me, but in many people—to fall out of lockstep with the shiny happy people and enjoy being nasty.

		Maybe the odd Charles Addams cartoon is worthy of a chuckle, but the sit-coms - I think there were like three different ones - always seemed laboured, a bit too much with the kooky, spooky, 'wackiness'.
		This second film in the resurrected (!) Addams Family sequence is every bit as good as the first, and about a million times better than the recent 'Addams Family Reunion', which boasts very few of the original film's stars.
		Sadly, this is partly due to 'Addams Family Values' being one of the last films Raul Julia made before he passed away.

		One of the rare sequels that actually equals the output of the first film, "Addams Family Values" shows the material still has enough not yet mined for a second picture - it works.
		I wouldn't think of doing another one of these pictures, but "Addams Family Values" manages to be successful, mainly due to the return of director Barry Sonnenfeld, who gets the tone and humor exactly right.
