  Addington
The advowson of the rectory, which was formerly vested in the prior and convent of St. John of Jerusalem, has been annexed to the manor ever since the restoration: the tithes and glebe of this parish were exchanged for certain lands, settled on the rector, by act of parliament in 1726.
Addington was used as the headquarters for the Parliamentarians twice during the Civil War, and it is thought that the ancient barn attached to Addington House, was almost certainly used by the troops.

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Roman Catholic Relief Bill
In Parliament Pitt explained that he and his colleagues wished to supplement the Act of Union by concessions to the Catholics, and that, having encountered insurmountable obstacles they resigned, feeling that they could no longer hold office consistently with their duty and their honour.
Pitt's real reason for resigning in 1801 was, that the nation wanted peace, and he was too proud to make terms with Napoleon.
He supported Addington's measures; nor did he lift a finger on behalf of the Catholics; and when the Treaty of Amiens was broken and the great struggle with France was being renewed, he brushed Addington aside with disdain.

I will not be doing comic book characters of the pre-War years because they deserve a site of their own; there are more than enough of them to merit an entire site all to themselves.
Because I did my Victoriana site first and was not planning, while I wrote it, to do a pulp heroes site, I added some characters on to the Victoriana site who, properly speaking, don't belong there, as they appeared after Queen Victoria died.
I'm not going to move the characters from one site to another, as that would be more work than I'm willing to do.
