BODE'S LAW AND THE DISCOVERY OF CERES
Titius, probably because he was by nature self-effacing, not only left his additions unsigned but actually incorporated them in the text itself, with no hint that they were not the original work of the author.
[19] How Titius could declare that Bonnet had drawn his ideas of unknown planets from Lambert is not clear, though perhaps Titius and Bonnet may have corresponded over the translation; but this reference of Titius to Wolff suggests that Wolff had indeed been Titius's original source.
But he makes no acknowledgement to Titius; indeed, it is only in later editions that Bode identifies his source (possibly because Titius had pressed him to do so).

Cardiff Corvey Articles, XIII.1: B. COLBERT, British Travel Writing, 1780–1840
Clark uses the 11th edn (1819) for his analysis and as the source of his quotations, but mistakenly assumes that it resembled the 1st edn, which he describes as a ‘chunky little publication’ 4.5 cm in width (my 1st edn is 2 cm narrower, and lacks many of the anecdotal additions that inform Clark’s conclusions).
Edward G. Cox’s A Reference Guide to the Literature of Travel (3 vols, 1935–49) remains the most comprehensive travel bibliography available, though one that antedates the powerful search engines provided by such electronic resources as the English Short Title Catalogue (ESTC), the Nineteenth-Century Short Title Catalogue (NSTC), and the OCLS WorldCat on-line database.
Cox gives a fair representation of travel-related books published in English since the dawn of printing, as well as many helpful textual annotations, yet his volume on Europe stops at 1800, his regional categories are often too inclusive for specialised use, nearly all his entries lack imprint details, and there are many errors and omissions.

THE ADDITIONS TO DANIEL, NRSV APOCRYPHA
Likely composed independently in the second or first century BCE, the Prayer and Song (with the exception of the end of the Song) may have originally had no connection to the book of Daniel.
In the account of Bel, Daniel demonstrates that the idol is not a god by proving that it does not eat the food set out for it each night; the second story reverses this scenario as Daniel proves the dragon is not divine by feeding it a noxious concoction that kills it.
Perhaps composed as early as the Persian period (fifth-fourth centuries BCE) as a midrash on Jer 51; these idol parodies which appear as ch 14 of the Greek version of the book of Daniel display the foolishness of pagan worship, divine protection of the faithful Jews, and the cleverness of the court favorite, Daniel.

The food offered to the ‘dead’ god, Bel, is eaten by his living priests, who are put to death by the king, Cyrus, for their deception after Daniel exposes them as frauds.
In the meantime, God transports the prophet Habakkuk from Judea—suspended by his hair—with boiled pottage and bread to feed Daniel while in the lions’ den.

 ForMinistry - vsItemDisplay
Additions to Daniel: The Prayer of Azariah and The Song of the Three Jews, Daniel and Susanna, Daniel, Bel, and the Dragon (included in the Book of Daniel in the Catholic Bible)
The Protestant Reformers decided to exclude the apocryphal books, on the basis that the shorter Hebrew Bible (thirty-nine books) was older and therefore, more authoritative, and also because they disagreed with the Catholic church which relied on 2 Maccabees to defend the doctrines of purgatory and the saying of masses for the dead.
Christians at the time of Christ and in the early Church read and quoted from the Septuagint Greek Bible, since the majority of Christians were Greek-speaking Gentiles.

Song of the Three Children - International Standard Bible Encyclopedia
The order in which the three "Additions to Daniel" are found in the (Separate Protestant) Apocrypha is decided by their sequence in the Vulgate, the So of the Three Children forming part of chapter 3, Susanna of chapter 13, and Bel and the Dragon of chapter 14 of Daniel.
Azariah is the Hebrew name of Abed-nego (= Abednebo, "servant of Nebo"), the latter being the Babylonian name (see Daniel 1:7; 2:49, etc.).
Polychronius says that "The So of the Three Holy Children" was, even in the 5th century AD, absent from the text of Daniel, both in the Peshitta and in the Septuagint proper.
