Sunni Muslim residents of Adhamiyah recall Jihad and myth of fallen insurgents at Baghdad shrine.
Every Friday the burial place of some one hundred Iraqis, Syrians and a few Arab fighters turns into a reunion for the Sunni Muslim residents of Adhamiyah to mourn their loved ones and recount the stories of the dead, which are slowly becoming legends in this northern district of the capital.
He walks over to the tomb of his friend Ali Safa, 33, who was killed with two other Adhamiyah natives buried nearby when US and Iraqi forces stormed the mosque in November in search for weapons and suspected insurgents provoking a riot.

Adhamiyah is still considered a war zone, and surprises are bound to happen over there as it's the most anti-American district in Baghdad.
Iraqi flags (with the Allahu Akbar sign) are pasted on almost every store, graffiti praising the 'valiant resistance' are all over the place, some prasing Saddam openly, and recently there have been a few shyly saluting Muqtada Al-Sadr and Al-Mahdi army.

 Four die in Baghdad blasts
Baghdad - At least four people were killed and more than 30 others wounded, including five children, in a car bombing and another blast on Wednesday in a northern Baghdad district, hospital and police sources said.
The blasts struck the mainly Sunni Muslim area of Adhamiyah killing at least four and wounding about 34, said Dr Abdullah Saheb at Al-Numan hospital.
Women were seen screaming and wailing at the hospital as ambulances ferried the wounded to the emergency department.

Reuters is reporting that fighting erupted in the Adhamiyah region of Baghdad this morning.
The region is the last place that Saddam was seen in public prior to being found in the spider hole.
For years, it has been a place where bad elements from Ramadi and Fallujah would congregate in Baghdad, so it is not terribly surprising that there would be unrest in Adhamiyah given the activity in Fallujah.

The Sunni middle classes in Iraq had been relatively secular until recently, but the American conquest has caused many of them to turn to religion, some to radical religion.
Meanwhile, Ken Dilanian of the Philadelphia Inquirer, meanwhile, reports that substantial numbers of Sunnis in the upscale Adhamiyah quarter of Baghdad continue to support Saddam Hussein.
He worries that this support for the fallen dictator bodes ill for the future of the country, given how much most Shiites and Kurds hate Saddam.
