Adi Da's current formal name, Ruchira Avatar Adi Da Samraj, is not just a random collection of names meant to sound divine, but are Sanskrit terms intended to convey specific meanings and to define his being as an avatar.
Adi Da teaches that the ego is "an activity, not an entity." By this, it should be understood that men and women create their egos and perpetuate them through their actions.
Adi Da's human form is said to transmit this brightness, and it is for this reason that much of their meditative practices involve concentration on photographic representations of the guru.

Adi Da Samraj (born Franklin Albert Jones, November 3, 1939 in Jamaica, New York) is a highly controversial modern spiritual teacher and religious guru and the founder of the new religious movement known as Adidam.
Adi Da claims that "traditional sacred society, large or small, has had a kind of hierarchical way of organizing itself." He compares Adidam to a beehive, and stated that "The general congregation in the hive is the kind of worker bee.

Adi Da's Work in Art and Architecture
Adi Da's work breaks the traditional rules and conventions of standard photographic practice — not as a formalist exercise or to participate in the (conventional) games of the avant-garde, but rather as a means of creating true visionary art.
Adi Da is inviting us to see that art is capable of relating to the world in a way that reflects a truer understanding of reality than our present culture is willing to acknowledge.
Adi Da's Art is a paradoxical experience, a multi-dimensional one, a revelatory one, a liberating one, an ordeal also, a participation that is extraordinary.

As such NPD leaders go, Adi Da is not nearly as bad as some, and smarter than most, but he conforms with uncanny predictibility to both the general and specific outlines of their pattern.
"Adi Da's Teaching is neither utopian nor dissociative; it is simply a radically new human politics based on the Truth.
I think the seeds of Da’s shadow are evident in what little he tells us of his childhood: An incredibly sensitive little boy who is interested in the myth of the Christian messiah feels his heartfelt happiness being destroyed by his parents’ frequent displays of anger and negativity.

 DAISM (Adi Da)
Da’s whole non-dual perspective was clearly developed in relation and response to the Vedantic non-dualism of Kashmir Shaivism, and the Advaitic non-dualism of Ramana, along with the whole of the Upanishadic tradition, including the Ribhu Gita and the Astavakra Gita.
Da describes the third stage of the perfect practice (the seventh stage of life) as perfect Self-Abiding, recognizing all arising phenomena as mere modifications of consciousness.
Which is why the corruptions of the neo-Advaitics actually work strongly in Da’s favor, allowing him to point to their examples as a rationale for downgrading Advaitism altogether to second-tier status while at the same time ignoring the even worse cultism and stupidity that is allowed free reign in Adidam.

Wilber has acknowledged Adi Da Samraj as one of his teachers [Grace and Grit], and much of his own conceptual framework can be viewed as borrowing from that of Adi Da Samraj:
But Ken Wilber appears not to have had the personal strength to continue advocating Adi Da Samraj in spite of the "grief" he was receiving.
So for a while, he tried to have it both ways, publicly denouncing "Da", while privately confessing his "love and devotion" to "Master Adi Da", and privately expressing the hope that "my work will continue to bring students to the Way of the Heart".

IS GOD IN THE GARBAGE?: A Critical Appraisal of Adi Da's Philosophy, essay by Andrew Smith
Da is obviously using the term "I" not in the sense that it is ordinarily understood--as a specific individual person, separate from others--but to refer to a state of being in which all sense of alienation and separateness has been transcended, in which one experiences a complete oneness with all of existence.
Da appears obsessed with the fact that he has not only realized a very high state of awareness, but that he is the only person in the history of the earth to have done so.
Da, and his remaining supporters, seem to believe that this concept of self-contraction is a unique and original aspect of his teachings, an idea not found in any of the spiritual classics.
