The horse Adios Butler (1956 - 1983) was a North American harness racing champion.
In 1959, Adios Butler won the Cane Pace, then the Little Brown Jug where he was the first horse to win with a sub-two-minute mile and finally the Messenger Stakes, doing it in track and stake record time to become the first pacer to ever capture the Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Pacers.
Adios Butler was named "Horse of the Year" in 1960 and 1961 by the U.S. Trotting Association and the U.S. Harness Writers Association.

He was also the sire of Triple Crown winners Adios Butler and Bret Hanover.

He started a string of world record setting in 1940 with the two-year-old trotting filly Acrasia, but gained his greatest fame in the post war years as driver of Proximity, the great trotting mare who rewrote the record book in 1948-1950.
In 1959 he had Adios Butler and Bye Bye Byrd which he trained until that pacing stallion's retirement.
Among his greatest wins were the Cane Pace with Cold Front in 1961 and Ranger Knight in 1962, and The Little Brown Jug and Messenger Pace with Adios Butler in 1959.

 Freehold Raceway opens summer-fall meet Friday Cane Pace on Labor Day to highlight season’s harness racing action
This will be the 46th edition of the Cane Pace and for the third year in a row historic Freehold Raceway is hosting the harness racing Triple Crown event which carries a $350,000 purse.

On the way home the Long Island Railroad train we were on caught fire and we had to make an emergency exit.
Saw Adios Butler's last race, a win in the National Pacing Derby.
