		Adiyaman is one of the oldest settlements in history, dating back to 40 th century B.C. Historical findings indicate that between 7.000 and 3000 B.C. Paleolithic, Neolithic and Chalcolithic Ages reigned in the area.
		Situated in Southeastern Turkey, Adiyaman Province is flanked by the provinces of Diyarbakir (to the East), Malatya (to the North), Kahramanmaras; (to the West), Sanlizurfa anda Gaziantep (to the South).
		The overall population of Adiyaman is 5690.386, according to the 1997 Census.

		Also north of Sanliurfa, some 100km east of Adiyaman, stands Mt Nemrut, atop which one finds the gigantic, 1st-century BC tomb-shrine of King Antiochus I of Commagene, and statues of the Commagene deities.
		Sometime during or after their placement there by the Commagene kings, the whole top of a mountain was broken into a massive mound of little pebbles and left to provide background to the statues.
		Very early in the morning, we may drive to Mt Nemrut and climb near the top (at 8200 ft) to watch the sun rise over the heads of these stone faces.
