IPT Journal - "Antisexuality and Child Sexual Abuse"
Adult sexual behaviors such as fellatio, mutual masturbation, cunnilingus, anal intercourse or unusual positions, massage, use of massage oils, lubricants, dildoes, sexual aids, pornography (including Playboy and lingerie ads), ménage a trois or a quattro, adultery, and unusual fantasies are used to portray an accused person as sexually deviant and thus a child molester.
This is seen in the depiction of sex as bad in sexual abuse prevention programs, the readiness to define a sexual or affectionate interaction as abusive, the criminalization of childhood sexual behavior, and the genitalization of human sexuality.
When it is understood that sexual contact is included, the power imbalance has been broadened to be the cause of the "hurt." Herman (1981) puts it this way: "Any sexual relationship between the two (an adult and a child or an adolescent) must necessarily take on some of the coercive characteristics of rape" (p.

 legacy of sexual abuse
Sexually aggressive behavior in young children is a clear presence in the clinical literature (Arroyo, Eth, and Pynoos, 1984; Fortenberry and Hill, 1986; Pomeroy, Behar, and Steward, 1981; Yates, 1982).
Child sexual abuse for the purposes of this study will be defined as: The victimization of dependent, developmentally immature children and adolescents in sexual activities which they do not fully comprehend and are unable to give informed consent to for the sexual gratification of an adult or significantly older child/adolescent.
Sexual offenders may share a victim perspective legitimately, however, it is most frequently utilized as a means of justification and rationalization for their acts of abuse.

 Adolescent Sex Offenders
Molestation of children by teens has been labeled “curiosity” or “experimentation”, and many sexual offenses termed “adolescent adjustment reactions.” Even in cases where the offender’s behavior was clearly sexual and criminal, many systems have been reluctant to label a juvenile a “sex offender”.
He was committed at age 15 to the department of corrections for sex offender treatment as a rapist in an unprecedented decision based on the evidence supporting his potential behavior without ever having succeeded in completing the act of rape on record.
By Stretch’s own account, this stage included observing the babysitter having sex with her boyfriend, and was accompanied by assaultive behaviors towards girls in the school grounds motivated by a desire to actually frighten, control, and degrade them.

 Abstinence Clearinghouse About Us
The 1998 circumstantial review “The Sexual Abstinence Message Causes Positive Changes in Adolescent Behavior,” concludes that the improvements in data reflecting adolescent sexual activity are due, at least in part, to an explosive growth in privately-funded abstinence programs.(4)
FACT#1: Abstinence and decreased sexual activity are primarily responsible for the decline during the 1990s in adolescent pregnancy, birth and abortion rates.
Promoting risk reduction, not complete risk elimination, for sexual behavior is an unacceptable compromise,” says Dr. John Diggs, Medical Abstinence Council.

Some factors in relation to parents that may positively or negatively affect an adolescent's behavior are parenting processes, parental behavior, parental knowledge of sex and sex education, and the child's level of exposure to his/her parent's sexuality.
A common misfortune of parents trying to teach their children proper sexual behavior is their own lack of knowledge.
Parents may contribute to the sexual conduct of their children; they influence their children's behavior with their parenting processes, parental behavior, parental knowledge and sex education, and by exposing them to their own sexuality.

Innumerable studies demonstrated that the norms of individuals to whom teenagers are attached (e.g., family members, close friends and romantic partners) were strongly related to and consistent with the adolescents' own sexual and contraceptive behavior.
Given high rates of unprotected sex, unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease (STD) infection among U.S. adolescents, for at least two decades people concerned about youth have developed a wide variety of programs to reduce adolescent sexual risk-taking.
While most studies of school-based and school-linked health centers revealed no effect on student sexual behavior or contraceptive use, two had some evidence of increased contraceptive use.

A History of Sexual Abuse Elevates the Massachusetts Teenagers' Risk of Engaging in Unsafe Sexual Practices
To assess the association between sexual abuse and risky sexual behavior among adolescents, researchers analyzed data from the 1997 Massachusetts Youth Risk Behavior Survey.
Looking at sexual risk behaviors, the researchers found that 50% of males were younger than 15 when they first had intercourse, that 43% had had three or more partners in their lifetime and that 19% had had two or more partners in the past three months.
Adolescent males with a history of sexual abuse are more likely than those without to have had three or more partners in their lifetime and to have had two or more partners within the past three months.

Young adolescents (e.g., 12- to 14-year-olds) rank reduced tension and impaired behavioral functioning among the highest expectancies; 15- to 16-year-olds cite enhanced social and physical pleasure and modified social and emotional behavior; and older adolescents (e.g., 17- to 19-year-olds) list enhanced sexual performance and increased power among their highest expectancies (Christiansen et al., 1982).
What is missing is knowing the extent to which adolescents perceive benefits of risky behaviors.
It must be recognized that behavior does not occur in a vacuum and cannot be understood adequately without considering the interplay between the individual and the many different types of environments in which he or she lives.

The year after the initiation of sexual intercourse is a time of high risk for unintended pregnancy, and in one study about one-third of adolescents made their first visit to a clinic because they suspected that they already were pregnant.
Media effects on teens' sexual behavior are poorly understood, however, partly because little rigorous research has been conducted on this topic.
Further research is needed to add to our understanding of key antecedents of the timing of first sexual intercourse and adolescents' early and consistent use of effective contraception.

That is, adolescents who have substance abuse and behavior problems, who are not doing well in school, who have low aspirations for their own educational attainment, and who live in economically disadvantaged families and communities tend to initiate sexual intercourse at younger ages, contracept less effectively, and have unintended pregnancies.
The younger adolescents are when they begin having sex, the greater their risks of negative consequences, and early sexual intercourse experiences often are psychologically or physically coercive.
Adolescents who terminate their pregnancies or relinquish their babies for adoption tend to come from higher socioeconomic backgrounds, to have done well in school, and to have higher educational aspirations.

An American Travesty: Legal Responces to Adolescent Sex Offending.
Youth may undergo years of compelled therapy, in which they must conform their thinking to a therapy-model which assumes that their behavior is part of a compulsive and repetitive “cycle.” They may be required to keep journals of deviant sexual fantasies, and, most of all, required to confess.
Families may be required to inform schools, family friends, and social contacts about the nature of their adolescent’s sex offense and his presumed ongoing proclivity to re-offend.
Given the diversity within the adolescent sex offender population, including diversity of risk posed to the community, and the corresponding diversity of responses we should apply, how does one decide what should be done with whom?
