Belew was invited to lay down guitar for the songs, which led to his participation on the album's supporting tour (which a portion of the live compilation The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads showcased).
Belew also contributed to the Talking Heads' offshoot project, the Tom Tom Club, appearing on their self-titled 1981 debut album, as well as their hit single "Genius of Love" (although he wasn't given a songwriting credit originally, it became known years later that Belew helped co-pen the tune with the others).
Belew, who handled lead vocal duties in addition to guitar, was joined by Crimson vets Robert Fripp (guitar) and Bill Bruford (drums), in addition to session ace Tony Levin (bass).

Adrian Belew (born December 23, 1949 as Robert Steven Belew) is an American guitarist and vocalist (and sometimes drummer, pianist and bass player), perhaps best known for his work as a member of the progressive rock group King Crimson, which he first joined in 1981.
Belew's vocals are known for their distinct, sometimes manic feel - his singing voice is often compared to that of Talking Heads singer David Byrne.
Adrian is currently touring the U.S. and in August of 2006 in Atlanta, GA he performed on The Acoustic Planet Tour with Bela Fleck and The Flecktones and Umphrey's McGee.

This, my first excursion into the Adrian Belew back catalogue prooves that to be totally incorrect.
Everything that I have come to love about KC, the intricate fretwork placed alongside a guitar that sounds like all the insides are are fire, are here on Belew's solo cd's "side one" and "side two".
Both albums seem to have the magic that KC has, that something that no-one else does, but here where the last few KC cd's have been all hard and edgy, there are moments of softness that sweeten the harshness.
