 'Mr. Good Morning, Vietnam' Working to Recover Remains
Adrian Cronauer, who made the greeting, "Good Morning, Vietnam!" famous as a mid-1960s Air Force disc jockey on Armed Forces Radio is now doing his best to help locate and retrieve remains of missing servicemen in Southeast Asia and other parts of the world as a member of the Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office.
Cronauer said he's slated to go to North Korea with a delegation in September, but there are no plans to return to Vietnam or Laos yet.
Part of Cronauer's job is to visit families across the country to provide updated briefings about their particular case and the work being done by his office, the Joint Task Force for Full Accounting and the Army Central Identification Laboratory in Hawaii.

In fact, Adrian Cronauer is on record as saying he never would've gotten away with even half the antics that Robin Williams put into the role.

Adrian Cronauer is a real person who is an acquaintance and occassional lunch-date of mine.
Adrian is a lawyer with the Department of Defense whose specialty is working with the governments of North Korea and the Vietnam trying to locate the remains of military personnel who are still listed as "Missing in Action." This is a very worthy effort, and Adrian is a very worthy guy.
I've never asked Cronauer if he really started his radio show with "Goooooood Morning, Vietnam" as Robin Williams does in the movie, but we will stipulate - for the next four months or so - that he did.
