  Lorenzo Campeggio - LoveToKnow 1911
Wolsey, then engaged in beginning his reform of the English church, procured that he himself should be joined to the legation as senior legate; thus the Italian, who arrived in England on the 23rd of July 1518, held a subordinate position and his special legatine faculties were suspended.
Campeggio's mission failed in its immediate object; but he returned to Rome, where he was received in Consistory on the 28th of November 1519, with the gift from the king of the palace of Cardinal Adriano Castellesi, who had been deposed, and large gifts of money and furniture.
He was made protector of England in the Roman curia; and in 1524 Henry VIII.

Palazzo Castellesi Giraud Torlonia, Rome   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-27)
The palace, located in the Via della della Conciliazione 30, was built at the beginning of the 16th century for cardinal Adriano Castellesi.
The architect, perhaps Andrea di Bregno, adopted the composition and details - like flat bossage, a mezzanine in the second floor and the outlining of the piano nobile with double pilasters - that were introduced with Palazzo della Cancelleria, erected few years earlier, but the quality of the facade falls short of the Cancelleria.
After several changes of ownership, the palace passed to the Borghese in the 17th century, then to the frech banker Giraud and finally to the Torlonia, whose crest can still be found above the portal.

JOHANN REUCHLIN - LoveToKnow Article on JOHANN REUCHLIN   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-27)
His studies in this language had been continued at Basel under Andronicus Contoblacas, and here too he formed the acquaintance of the bookseller, Johann Amorbach, for whom he prepared a Latin lexicon (Vocabularius Breviloquus,.1st ed, 147576), which did good service in its time and ran through many editions.
This first publication, and Reuchlins account of his teaching at Basel in a letter to Cardinal Adrian (Adriano Castellesi) in February 1518 show that he had already found the work which in a larger sphere occupied his whole life.
He was no original genius, but a born teacher.

Portigliotti refers to "The skill with which the poison was administered…..removed all suspicion of an unnatural death", a bit of a laugh that, given that the unfortunate Pope has been blamed ever since for a multiplicity of deaths including his own.
The meal that poisoned Alexander and his son, Cesare was held at the house of Adriano Castellesi, Cardinal di Corneto, himself a proposed victim according to Portigliotti.
He only had a small dose, his viscera started to burn, he became semi-comatose and he plunged into a vat of cold water, where he remained until all his skin had been sloughed off.
