| | Bible Study - Adversary |
 | | The English word adversary, meaning someone who opposes, is used to translate the Hebrew words of the Old Testament (pronounced) tsaw-rar, meaning to bind or cramp, and saw-tawn, from which originated the name Satan, which literally means adversary. |
 | | In the New Testament, "adversary" is used to translate the Greek word (pronounced) anti-dee-kos, which means an opponent, including in reference to Satan, who made himself the primary opponent of God (see the Fact Finder question below), and in doing so also made himself the greatest fool, and the greatest loser, of all time. |
 | | Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion [see also When The Cat Will Become The Mouse], seeking some one to devour. |
