It is generally believed that the words of what is now the Republic of Korea's national anthem, called "Aegukka" (A Song of Love of Country), were written toward the end of the 19th century either by Yun Ch'i-ho (1865-1946), a politician, or by An Ch'ang-ho (1878-1938), an independence leader and educator.
Ann's "Aegukka" was sung at a ceremony celebrating the founding of the Republic of Korea Government on August 15, 1948, following national liberation in 1945.
When the "Aegukka" is sung in unison at important events, all of four stanzas are sung unless unavoidable conditions require it to be shorten.

Aegukka, also known as Ach'imand#365;n pinnara ("Let Morning Shine", the first phrase of the song) is the national anthem of North Korea.
"Aegukga" and "Aegukka" are just different romanizations of the same Korean word — the spelling in Hangeul (and Hanja) is the same.
It's kind of odd having two different anthems with the same title, unless "Aegukka" translates as "national anthem" (which, after some checking, tells me it might).

In 1895, a change in government let Yun and his family return to Korea, where he was appointed to the reform cabinet.
He also helped establish the mission of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in Korea, and wrote the poem “Aegukka,” now the words to the Korean national anthem.
He became editor of the Korean newspaper the Independent and led demonstrations in front of the royal palace, angering conservative officials and narrowly escaping assassination.

There is a national anthem, the Aegukka ("the song of patriotism"), but due to the worship of the longtime national leader, songs that praise Kim Il Sung have more or less replaced the anthem.
With the rise of Kim Il Sung's son, Kim Jong Il, to public office, two songs, each praising Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, began to be sung in public meetings.
