Aer Rianta workers in Cork earlier endorsed the decision of Shannon and Dublin colleagues to begin limited industrial action.
"This is the first of a programme of limited industrial action focused on Aer Rianta's involvement in the EU Presidency and with a view to minimising the impact on the travelling public," he said.
A spokesman for Aer Rianta said the company would be asking staff not to cause disruption to any passengers and to encourage their trade union representatives to examine how difficulties might be resolved.

Aer Rianta had control of Dublin Airport from its start but it was not until 1969 that Cork and Shannon airports became the responsibility of the company.

The Minister for Transport, Mr Brennan, has attacked his predecessor, Senator Mary O'Rourke, over her opposition to the break-up of Aer Rianta, claiming that her policies would have resulted in houses being built on the site of Shannon Airport.
Mr Brennan said the leaking of correspondence to the Government from Aer Rianta about its bonds was reckless and designed to create the erroneous impression of instability.
Questioning whether the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, was fully behind the break-up policy, Senator Ross said the Aer Rianta chairman, Mr Noel Hanlon, and its board should have been sacked for thwarting Mr Brennan.

Aer Rianta has pleaded that in a press release issued in January, 2001, and on its website, Ryanair overstated the amount of airport charges levied by Aer Rianta pursuant to the Air Navigation and Transport (Amendment) Act, 1998, as amended.
Aer Rianta alleges that Ryanair overstated the level of the charges, has characterised the nature and extent of airport charges at the airports of Aer Rianta in a false and misleading manner and has done so maliciously with the intent of causing damage to the business and reputation of Aer Rianta.
Ryanair, in its defence, denies the claim of Aer Rianta in defamation and pleads that the passenger service charge collected from its passengers was based on a number of different factors and that it was an approximation.

AER Rianta has been accused of turning down a plan to upgrade Drumgeely Hall in Shannon and make the premises available to residents as well as students of the Shannon College of Hotel Management.
Aer Rianta says it holds a short term lease on Drumgeely Hall but Cmmr Tom O'Shaughnessy claims it has a lease for 15 to 20 years and was approached by the owners to upgrade the facility and make it available to residents.
According to Aer Rianta they have a short term lease on the facilities while assessing the long term requirements of the Shannon College of Hotel Management and are exploring the various development options.

The SIPTU leadership blocked the Aer Rianta action in a desperate attempt to avoid the application by Ryanair for a High Court injunction.
While a ballot is being organised by SIPTU in Aer Lingus to put the workforce in a position to take on management's increased attacks on jobs and conditions, particularly with the slashing of half the workforce in Shannon, that ballot has been weakened by the Aer Rianta betrayal.

AS WE go to press, Aer Rianta workers in Dublin, Cork and Shannon are balloting for industrial action in response to the Minister for Transport Seamus Brennan's announcement that he intends to break-up the company and replace it with three independent companies.
Aer Rianta has been the jewel in the crown of the semi-states, a highly successful company that has paid hundreds of millions of euro in dividends to the exchequer, provided relatively decent employment for its 2,400 workers, and provided an excellent service to the public.
The fact that Dublin has been saddled with the total Aer Rianta debt puts it at a disadvantage when linked to the government policy of a second private terminal at Dublin airport.
