Ariete - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ariete is a main battle tank developed for the Italian Army to meet the needs of the 21st Century, by providing a credible indigenous tank design capable of competing with other current tanks on the battlefield and in the export market.
The Ariete main battle tank was developed by the Consorzio Iveco Fiat - Oto Melara with headquarters in Rome.
The Ariete is also armed with a 7.62mm NATO standard machine gun mounted coaxially with the main gun and a 7.62mm air defence machine gun mounted on the turret roof and operated by the tank commander.

Aerfer Ariete - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Aerfer Ariete (Italian: Ram) was a prototype fighter aircraft built in Italy in 1958.
It was a refined derivative of the Aerfer Sagittario 2, and was an attempt to bring that aircraft up to a standard where it could be mass-produced as a viable combat aircraft.
Retaining most of the Sagittario 2's layout, the Ariete added tricycle undercarriage and a bubble canopy.

Aeritalia G.91 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
The aircraft first flew on August 1 1956 and the competing designs were evaluated in 1957.
Besides the G.91, these included the Northrop N156, Dassault Etendard IV, Sud-Est Baroudeur, Aerfer Ariete and Bregeut Taon.
Despite the G.91's impressive performance in trials, the French government preferred to pursue development of the locally-designed Etendard, and the British government ignored the competition to concentrate on Hawker Hunter production for the same role.

MM569 The Ariete (Ram) showed an unusual twin engine configuration achieved by placing an auxiliary jet to be used during take off, climb and dogfights.
To feed this second engine a retractable air intake was provided on the upper back part of the fuselage, just behind the cockpit.
The Ariete first flight occurred at Pratica di Mare airport on the 27th of March 1958.

 THE GREAT PLANES Community - GOT: The Ambrosini SS.4 / SAI 107 - 207 - 403
Despite the remarkable performances attained by these light-weight fighters-which might well be considered as the only practical piston-engined machines in their class ever developed -they achieved little fame, either in the country of their origin or abroad.
It is particularly interesting to note that from their design has stemmed the Aerfer Ariete lightweight jet-fighter.
The majority of the 145 copies of the post-war Ambrosini S.7s, a lot of single-seaters among them, served in the different aviation shools of the Aeronautica Militare.
