Aero Vodochody - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aero Vodochody (commonly referred to as Aero, (Vodochody is location) is a Czech (and Czechoslovak) aircraft company notable for producing the L-29 Delfin, L-39 Albatros and the L-159 Alca.
The sales of military aircraft declined in the early 1990s in Eastern Europe as well as in the NATO countries where the entry of a new producer was obviously difficult.
Aero collaborated several years with Boeing but this did not help it to compete on international market.

 FlightSim.Com Review: Aero L-39 Albatros
If jet fighters weren't difficult to fly, the failure rates on training programs wouldn't run at the level they do - and the one common factor linking the majority of military sims is that the balance of their handling qualities veers too near to the arcade and too far away from reality.
The Aero L-39 may be unfamiliar to readers, but it is one of the most popular jet trainers in the world, with over 2,250 examples delivered.
For all that it is only 40 feet long, the Albatros is a powerful plane, with a service ceiling of 40,000 feet, and an initial rate of climb of over 4000 feet per minute, yet it can operate off a 2000 foot paved runway.

Now, I am pleased to be able to announce that the developers have released a new paint scheme; an airbase for the Albatros to operate from; a "history of the Soviet Air Force in pictures" CD; and a Combat Flight Simulator 2 version of the L-39.
Various approach charts are available for the airbase as part of the Albatros manual, annotated in cyrillic characters, which adds to the authenticity, if not to the readability, but approach charts are approach charts and as long as you don't forget that the measurements are metric you should be able to work them out.
For a start it is only $4, which is practically giving it away, and while the photography and commentary are excellent, the best of it is the way it effortlessly transports you into another world.
