Subchapter II. Aesthetician Certification   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
The primary purpose for the certification of aestheticians is to guarantee to the public that each certified practitioner has achieved a minimum level of competence as an aesthetician.
An aesthetician is not authorized to prescribe medication or provide medical treatments in the same manner as a dermatologist.
A certified aesthetician who has allowed that certified aesthetician's certification to lapse for less than 2 years may renew that certified aesthetician's lapsed certification upon submission of a renewal form provided by the Division and payment of a late fee.

Aesthetics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Many goals have been argued for art, and aestheticians often argue that some goal or another is superior in some way.
Later analytic aestheticians strove to link beauty to some scientific theory of psychology (such as James Mill) or biology (such as Herbert Spencer).
As late as the Bloomsbury Group or Roger Fry’s exhibitions of “Post-Impressionist” art in 1910 and 1912 there is a pervasive assumption in the West that all art does and should aim at beauty, although Matisse and others are beginning to challenge this.
