He stopped his job and founded the new religious movement Aetherius Society to convey the messages of these extraterrestrials.

Marburg Journal of Religion (December 1999) John A Saliba
The Aetherius Society, one of the most well-known flying-saucer religions,[3] was founded in the mid-1950s by the late George King (1919-1997) who claimed to have received continual communications, through physical contact, trance, and telepathy, from various extraterrestrial beings who stem mainly from different planets in our solar system.
One of the Aetherius Society's main beliefs is the existence of a kind of pantheon of beings, referred to as Interplanetary Intelligences, who form a spiritual hierarchy concerned with the welfare of planet Earth.
It is, therefore, likely that the Aetherius Society will continue to function as a small religious movement or organization where belief in flying saucers is central and whose main mission is to protect the Earth from evil forces and prepare it for the millennium.

The Society offers three kinds of membership: (1) "full," which involves active participation in its activities, (2) "associate," for those who support the aims of the society but do not assume an active role, and (3) "friend," which refers to those who are sympathetic to the Society’s views.
The society's religious beliefs encompass the root teachings of world religions, relying heavily on the Theosophical tradition, scientific findings and developments, and a cosmic view of humanity which they claim to have received from the extraterrestrials who are referred to as Cosmic Masters.
Aetherius Society members believe that the Cosmic Masters on other planets are beings who have learned to control the vibratory rate of their energy level and have chosen to exist permanently on a higher realm of consciousness (Aetherius Society, "Hear the Cosmic Masters").
