AfDB is the financial development institution of Africa, reducing poverty and improving lives with the economic and social progress of its regional member Countries.
The main objective of AfDB is to contribute to the economic development and social progress of its regional members - individually and jointly by attempting to break the vicious cycle of poverty.
AfDB has been widely engaged in water projects in Africa and is organising high level meetings, such as the Meeting on Promoting Water Resources Development in African in September 2002 in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire.

Regional Development Banks: Stepping Out of the Shadows -
In 2003, the AfDB experienced a reduction in its overall operations, but still saw a 3.5% growth in private sector lending operations which finished the year with 28% of all loans and grants — the latest years in what is a firm trend of continuous year-on-year growth in the magnitude of private sector operations.
The AfDB directly invests in private sector firms by purchasing equity (stocks and debentures) in privately-owned companies, with an emphasis on companies in the financial sector, and on public sector companies that are in the process of being privatized.
The AfDB co-finances projects with the sub-regional development banks, and the sub-regional development banks are all dependent on the AfDB for a least a portion of their operating funds, provided through loans and equity participation.

The AfDB’s technical assistance and advice on policy issues is perceived as largely substandard, described in terms of “low quality”, “ineffective” (in the education and finance sectors), as well as in one case even “inappropriate”.
On the one hand, the AfDB is perceived to be “closely allied with the World Bank and the IMF”, tending to “piggyback on World Bank-led initiatives”, and with AfDB staff members participating in meetings organised by the World Bank on its country strategies.

 AFDB | Usage & Maintenance
While an AFDB will certainly stop the psychotronic mind control that is used to keep the abductee immobile during the levitation process, it does not seem able to stop the electromagnetic field used for levitation.
An AFDB -- or any metallic object in your immediate possession -- may increase your chances of being hit, but that increase is negligible compared to the increase chance due to being in a area at high lightning strike risk.
AFDB bedecked people in lightning-safe areas are at no more immediate, measurable risk than their mind control-addled neighbors.

The agreement establishing the AfDB stipulates that "The purpose of the Bank shall be to contribute to the economic development and social progress of its regional member countries---individually and jointly".
Towards achieving this objective, the AfDB uses resources at its disposal to finance projects and programs in its RMCs and to provide technical assistance to African countries as may be required for the preparation of development projects and programs.

This is not usually permitted at the AfDB since, according to its rules, it is the Cooperation Unit that normally approaches various donors with the request from a user department, with the choice of trust fund dependent on availability or funds and donor areas of interest or priorities.
At the AfDB, no such earmarking of trust funds assignments is possible given their procurement procedures which require short listing and evaluation of at least five consultants for all sizes and types of contracts.
