		Nov 22, 2003 - Samer Fathi Afan, 25, of the Bedouin village of Uzeir near Nazareth, was one of two Israeli security guards shot dead at a construction site along the route of the security fence near Abu Dis in East Jerusalem.
		The two guards, Samer Fathi Afan and Ilya Reiger, were sitting in a private, unarmored vehicle belonging to one of the guards, guarding equipment at the construction site, when gunmen opened fire at close range.
		Samer was the son of Sheikh Fathi Afan, Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Clerics in Israel.

		Afan has developed into the place to go in South Wales, it now has 4 seperate waymarked trails that make for a great wekends riding.
		The easiest way to get to Afan Argoed is from the M4 which crosses South Wales.
		This only cuts out the 5 mile ride along canal towpath to Whites from the Afan car park, but this is a nice warm up and as its all signposted, and virtually flat, it's only worth missing if you are in a hurry.
