		In the 650's, round-d represented the assibilated or affricative phone ("deos" for Greek "theos") while straight-d represented the dental stop (deus).
		Sometime around the end of the 7th century, the Anglo-Saxon symbol set was recodified and script differentiation introduced.
		The straight-d was assigned to Latin and the round-d to Old English as the dental stops; 'Edh' was taken from Futhark to represent the affricative.

		Then the Zuni language has l, ch', ts, k', and ky sounds that are unknown in English (the ' is a glottal stop).
		The barred l (lateral affricative) found in many Zuni words sounds something like "thl".
		This is produced with the tongue touching the alveolar ridge, and the air must escape freely around the sides of the tongue: release the l immediately and smoothly into the sounds, which follows with no voiced l in between.
