Hence, the North for AfroAmericans was not “the land of milk, honey and the American dreams” in which the fls had painted as a pretty picture of the North.
AfroAmericans, nationwide, not only saw a need to organize churches and businesses due to segregation, they knew that it had become important to organize schools and organizations during the 1860’s1890’s.
AfroAmerican business and professional people began organizing their newspapers/periodicals, teachers/doctors, grand operas, community centers, unions, banks, Masons and Elks nationally during the 1870’s and early 1900’s.

 Notes on Malcolm X
The Organization of Afro-American Unity has sent me to attend this historic African summit conference as an observer to represent the interests of 22 million African Americans whose human rights are being violated daily by the racism of American imperialists.
The Organization of AfroAmerican Unity (OAAU) has been formed by a cross-section of America's African American community, and is patterned after the letter and spirit of the Organization of African Unity (OAU).
With all due respect to your esteemed positions, I must remind all of you that the good shepherd will leave ninety-nine sheep, who are safe at home, to go to the aid of the one who is lost and has fallen into the clutches of the imperialist wolf.

And when you consider that the “experiences” of West Africans include such barbarities as female genital mutilation, perhaps the affinities to students’ lives are not as close as their professors maintain.
Another interesting course is “Introduction to Afroamerican Studies.” This class utilizes an “Afro-centric perspective rather than the usual Euro-centric approach to historical analysis.” So much for objectivity.
Nowadays, the burden of speaking truth to power at CU’s Afroamerican Studies program falls mostly on the shoulders of William M. King.

William King | Faculty/Staff | Ethnic Studies | University of Colorado at Boulder
My past and current research has had to do with Afroamerican life and history in the United States broadly described.
As I see it and have been told by others, my basic contribution to the field of Afroamerican Studies has been the elucidation of an Afrocentric approach to an exploration of the life and history of fl people in this society as previously noted.
What I mean by this is that the world view, normative assumptions, and frames of reference employed in my research flow from the historical experiences and folk wisdom of fl people as they have chose to make meaning of those experiences.

 News from Agape Press
According to Thomas Ryan, who writes for FrontPagemagazine.com, Colorado University's AfroAmerican Studies program offers a host of courses that are damning to America and resemble partisan indoctrination.
He says even though that educational program is the foundation of the school's Department of Ethnic Studies, its course curriculum does not include such figures as Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Denzell Washington, and Michael Jordan, or millions of other prominent citizens who belong to the growing fl middle class in America.
And then, Ryan adds, there is Professor William King, who teaches the course "Black America and the War in Vietnam." According to the conservative columnist, King is another of the AfroAmerican program faculty that views the United States as a racist nation.
