Black Canadian - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Black Canadian is a term used to identify a Canadian of African or Caribbean descent.
Caribbean-Canadian may also be used to refer to black Canadians of Caribbean birth or heritage, who form a much larger proportion of the black population in Canada than in the United States — in fact, almost half of Canada's black population is of Jamaican origin.
According to the 2001 census, 662,215 Canadians identified themselves as black, approximately two per cent of the entire Canadian population (Statistics Canada).

 A Comparison of French-Canadian/Afro-American Women
Despite such favorable, though romanticized, views within both groups of the adult woman as nurturant mother and sole support of the family as well as the entire group, negative stereotypes of French-Canadian and Afro-American women also exist.
For French Canadians, the other side of the devoted mother and wife is the passive-aggressive woman who completely loses herself in her family, becomes timorous of the outside world and tries to manipulate ("nag") family members into submission to her wishes.
Despite such changes, however, as indicated in the previous section, U.S. blacks and French Canadians continue to occupy minority statuses within their respective societies, and the situation of women in both groups is that of a doubly-disadvantaged group.

 Afro-Caribbean Immigrants
Although Canada prides itself upon being a fairly open nation, there has been a history of alienation and exclusion in the Afro-Caribbean Canadian experience.
This duality between the nation of human rights and relative freedom, and the sentiment of inhospitality towards certain immigrant groups (as well as their children) has lead to a complex and unique situation in Canada.
There has been a long-standing tradition in Canada of discrimination of those who the original, predominantly Anglo- Saxon settlers felt "would not fit in." Legally, Asians were discriminated against and prohibited from entering the country for many years.

And if I were an Afro-Canadian, an Afro-British, or even an Afro-French, then I would hit the roof.
If I were an Afro-American(which, come to think of it, isn't too impossible, seeing that I come from Pennsylvania, which has one of the second largest populations of Afro- Americans after Michigan), I would be very offended by this movie.

There's a lot of Canadian 'Aerosol' talent, but the problem is that many of the 'big name' Toronto writers (ike their international counterparts) behave as if they have sole control over the Canadian scene, and they do this just to suck up to the 'elite' international writers.
Although their artwork is technically pretty good, it still lacks originality and is done in order to achieve worldwide fame instead of artistic expression.
This changed my whole outlook on visual expression.
