All four titles -- the others are the double disc "Afro-Blue Impressions" and the single discs "The Paris Concert" and "The European Tour" -- feature the Classic Quartet of 'Trane, McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones in performances from a European tour in the fall of 1962.
To my ears, the sound quality is better than that of "The European Tour" (see my review) and "The Paris Concert," and even though the Quartet tackles only two tunes, they are wonderful, lengthy improvisations on old Coltrane staples.
The finest of these four recordings in my opinion is "Afro-Blue Impressions," both in terms of the quantity of material (more than 90 minutes of music and a dozen tunes) and the quality of the performance and sound.

Malcolm X Library Black History Month Calenar of Events
Yet in a white-supremacist world, the continent’s local European-oriented elites have historically chosen to give primacy to the European element, paying scant attention to the indigenous Indian reality while wholly undervaluing the African presence.
From the largest African population outside of Africa in Brazil to homegrown musical traditions including Mexican folk song La Bamba, the influence of Africa in the Latin American heritage is everywhere.

Invoking the Shakespearean metaphor of Caliban(the Arawak, Slave, descendent of both) from Shakespeare's "The Tempest," Henry shows how peoples of the Caribbean have had reason and rationality that has survived the Middle Passage and racist notions of European Enlightenment era philosophies.
The overarching categories Henry deliniates in the book are two traditions of Caribbean black thought and activism: (1) the poeticists and (2) the historicists.

Afro - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Afros enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence in the early 2000s, and have remained popular with many African Americans who continue to wear them as an affirmation of the natural (naptural) beauty of African people, a rejection of European aesthetics and a symbol of political consciousness.
The afro pick is an adaptation of a traditional African grooming instrument, which is essentially a narrow comb with long, widely spaced teeth.
Afros often pop up in Anime with characters such as Nabeshin and Bobobo Bo-Bobo, both of whom seemingly derive mystical powers from their afros.

Brazilian Portuguese - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Apart from the random drift caused by the isolation of the two communities, the evolution of Brazilian Portuguese was certainly influenced by the languages it supplanted: first the Amerind tongues of the natives, then the various African languages of the slaves, and finally the speeches of the European and Asian immigrants.
Brazilian Portuguese is a collective name for the varieties of Portuguese written and spoken by virtually all the 180 million inhabitants of Brazil and by a couple million Brazilian immigrants and temporary workers in other countries, mainly in Canada, United States, Portugal, Paraguay and Japan.
Brazilian Portuguese often treats as intransitive certain verbs that in EP are reflexive, and therefore would require a reflexive weak pronoun.

Mexico’s Racist Postage Stamp: Afro-Mexican Scholar Calls "Memín Pinguín" an Insult
Mexicans of African descent, whose communities are today mostly found in the coastal states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Veracruz, were encouraged to believe that they were part of the country's "cosmic race," a new kind of human being made up of African, indigenous, Asian and European people.
With a general public that consisted of indigenous Mexicans, African descendants, Asians and Europeans (mostly from Spain), the government initiated a campaign to advance Spanish as Mexico's official language.
The Mexican government's issuance of commemorative "Memín Pinguín" postage stamps has led to renewed charges of racism by Black and Latino activist organizations.

 KEO - HISTORY
East African traditions and chronicles, numismatic and architectural evidence, statements of European traveler Joao De Barros, and reports of Muslim travelers and geographers imply that after the Barzangis, another "Shirazi" dynasty moved to East Africa, establishing the Zanj Empire, and ruling there for more than 500 years from 980 to 1513 (Reusch, 91-215; Mathew, 102-106).
The foundation of the modern town of Zanzibar (the stone town center) was laid late in the reign of this Kurdo-Persian "Shirazi" dynasty.
A new wave of Iranic dominance of East Africa unfolded in the 11th century, and this time it was a joint endeavor by the Persians and Shabankara Kurds of Shiraz region in southern Iran.

Open Letter about 'Black Music', 'Afro-American Music' and 'European Music'
Although 'white music' is sometimes used as an opposite pole to 'black music', the counterpart most frequently provided by white writers on 'Afro-American music' is 'European music'.
Music develops within and between people and groups of people, with their conditions of life and with their position in the productive forces of society, not according to aesthetic taboos, be they elitist old hat or elitist hip.
According to these definitions, 'black music' would mean music of or relating to members of a dark-skinned race, especially of one of the indigenous peoples of Africa and their descendants elsewhere, or of one of the Aborigine peoples.
