		Peter Sellers stars as Aldo Vanucci, AKA The Fox, an arch criminal an master of disguise who breaks out of jail and is pressed into service by “Okra,” a man who has stolen several million dollars worth of gold bars from Cairo.
		Okra wants the Fox to devise a plan for getting the gold off of the boat where it is hidden and transport it to an unknown destination in Italy.

		It takes longer than an hour for The Fox to even hatch his plan, the preceding portion of the film spent in apparent improvisation as Sellers prances around in different costumes acting wacky as he eludes the hopeless detectives on his trail.
		Fans of Sellers will like a few things in After the Fox, but as there's no support from his script or director his forced wackiness often feels like desperate overcompensation.

		This movie is simply nothing but one hilarious scene after another (i've seen it more than 5 times), not to mention the music is fabulous and goes along perfectly with every scene.
		Finally, the "Pink Panther" series is much better slapstick than "After the Fox," which has many famous, talented participants but is mostly silly, unfortunately not as hilariously and frenetically silly as Clouseau & Co. One irritant was the repetition and prolongation of gags and situations, as if we might not notice them otherwise.

		Sellers is The Fox (the title refers to how everyone is after the fox, as in "pursuing"), a criminal genius so accomplished he can proclaim the day and hour of his escape from prison - and back it up by escaping.
		He's lounging in prison, letting the Italian authorities think they have him in their grasp, when the caper comes his way - as his sister rebels just enough to encourage him to escape to offer her the real father figure he thinks she needs.
		The movie's pretty silly over all, but there are some great scenes, including one set in an Italian restaurant where The Fox supposedly talks to a beautiful woman but is really talking to the man behind her.
