		Against the Grain is the seventh release (fifth full length album) by punk rock band Bad Religion released on November 23, 1990
		This is the last album recorded with drummer Pete Finestone who left in 1991 to concentrate with The Fishermen and was replaced by the next drummer Bobby Schayer shortly before their 8th release, Generator.
		In 2006, the album was ranked 1st among highest rated punk albums of 1991 on Sputnikmusic.

		I love Against the Grain, and listen to it more than Nevermind, but, to be honest, it didn't really do anything for the music scene that BR's previous albums hadn't already done.
		Against the Grain is good, a more "solid" rock album, but not as good as "Suffer" or "No Control".
		I love all BR albums (even New America and No Substance) and this is without a doubt up their with suffer, no control, generator and POB.

		Though the band hasn't been entirely silent since their last album, having released a couple of EPs and a split album with NEST in-between, the members have all kept busy with their own projects such as SCULPTURED and the truly odd one-man-band ESPECIALLY LIKELY SLOTH.
		The only real critisim for "Ashes Against The Grain" would be the lack of a faster track along the lines of "Hallways Of Enchanted Ebony" to snap the listener out of their reverie and inspire them to bang their heads with the fuel of fresh adrenaline and subsequently might bore those looking for something speedier.
		Thankfully this doesn't happen until the end of the album and can easily be ignored or tossed into the background for those not interested.
