Scanning a website for "interesting" paddles, I came upon the reference for a 28 km (2 day) trip down the lower Agawa River, starting from the location where the train stops for the fall colour tours, and ending at Lake Superior.
According to the very brief description, the river is extremely challenging (expert), with several waterfalls not marked on any topo map, and with locations that require rope lowering of the canoe down to the water (almost like Fat Man's Portage on the South Lady Evelyn loop I did solo 3 weeks ago).
After May the river drains right out and you spend most of your time dragging your canoe through unless you are lucky to catch a few days of rain.

I planned the route from Michipicoten River to Agawa Bay, with a boat shuttle to pick us up at Agawa.
Paddling conditions were ideal the rest of the day, and we did a 6km crossing (had the GPS turned on again) to Agawa Point.
Hopefully, I'll be able to put together a group for a trip from Hattie Cove in Pukaskwa to Michipicoten River in the near future - I'm determined to paddle Gitchee Gumee again, and the sooner the better.

There is a two hour stop at the Canyon, where there are waterfalls, seven hundred feet high rocky cliffs, nature trails and a lookout point set in a natural park beside the Agawa River.
On Saturdays and Sundays only from January to mid-March a one day "Snow Train" excursion is available from Sault Ste Marie to Agawa Canyon, but without a stop at the Canyon (due to the weather conditions).
