Agdenes is a municipality in the county of Sør-Trøndelag, Norway.
The shield was adopted in 1991 as the Agdenes coat of arms; the red colour represents strawberries and/or the blood of Eirik Bloodaxe.
This was because the area had been without road connection, and once the road was built, it was built in the direction of Snillfjord and it was hence logical to vote for the transfer.

The Magnus's sons saga reports that the harbour at Agdenes was built during the reign of King Øystein (1103-1123).

Agdenes is a coastal cabin placed ‘between hills and mountains, out towards sea’, just a few hundred metres from the waterline.
The cabin is not, like the name suggests, at Agdenes but close to Hegg in Mølnbubkt.

He took over the farm in 1875, married to Ingeborg Olsdatter (1838-?), also from Agdenes.

In Agdenes who is Orkdals local authority neighbour, Agdenes have produced an Olympic gold winner on ski.
Harald Grønningen is his name and in 1968 he won an Olympic gold medal on 1.5miles skiing and in a relay race.
