The X-Man comic series was pretty aimless following the Age of Apocalypse, as he danced on the periphery of the X-Men universe, often coming into conflict with other members, including his mainstream-universe counterpart, Cable, due to his misunderstanding of the world around him.
Threats from the Age of Apocalypse eventually began to reappear, and X-Man made it his goal to insure that his new home would not fall victim to the same destruction as his own.

Review, Rating, Rossmaning: After Xavier - The Age of Apocalypse
The whole Age of Apocalypse storyline (as it was to be called) revolved around one key event that was never meant to happen: Professor Xavier was killed twenty years in the past before he could start herding young, impressionable mutants into his lair and mind-warping them to kill his old enemies and fly his jet.
Apocalypse had been waiting hundreds of years for the right time to take control of the world.
It was fun to re-read all of my old Age of Apocalypse graphic novels again and all that, but it gets a couple of points off for making me feel like a lonely comic book loser who actually had time to re-read his entire Age of Apocalypse graphic novels again.

 X-Men: Age of Apocalypse #6
The Age of Apocalypse is a classic example of a story which does not call for a sequel.
At the end of the issue, X-23 suddenly decides for no good reason that she wants to have her memory unscrambled (did we even establish before that it was impaired?), and then learns that Wolverine is her father.
The very idea of a sequel to the Age of Apocalypse was questionable to start with, but it could still have been done an awful lot better than this mess.

Whereas the original featured scores of characters fighting their way through multiple battles to achieve a common goal – namely, saving the world by restoring a broken timeline – this story is about a mutant manhunt.
