Agfa is more reknown for their film, but by the 1950's they were the third largest producer of film cameras in the German camera market.
The Agfa Super Isolette and the Ansco Super Speedex range from $150 to $500 versus the usual $40 to $90 for a lesser equipped Isolette III or Speedex Special "R" equiped with Apotars.
Agfas are notorious for their green lens grease, which in the worst case scenario becomes a solid cement.

Agfa purchased Rietzschel's factory (Munich) in 1925 from which time the Rietzschel name was no longer used on cameras and the first "Agfa" cameras were produced.
Agfa's USA operations joined forces with Ansco in 1928 to form Agfa Ansco, which eventually became GAF, Agfa also continued operations in Germany both in the production of cameras and films, with the Munich, Leverkusen, and Wolfen factories in operation before WW11 and resuming production in the summer of 1945.
In 1952 Agfa founded "Agfa AG fur Photofabrikation" in Leverkusen and "Agfa Camera-Werk AG" in Munich.

This is simply a brief report, illustrated with a set of photographs, designed to demonstrate the capability (or lack thereof) of the Agfa ePhoto 1280 camera to record images in the near infrared.
About a year ago I acquired an Agfa 1280 camera and among the first things I decided to try was to find out if the camera had any residual infrared sensitivity by which images in the near infrared could be recorded.
All indications at the time were that the camera was very well filtered to eliminate infrared from the CCD sensor and even when I flashed an electronic flash directly into the lens which was covered with an 87C filter, the sensor produced a barely detectable image on the camera's LCD screen.
