 | | Since ancient times, astronomy has been considered an essential part of a liberal arts education, one of the four disciplines of the quadrivium, consisting of arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy. |
 | | For the last century, Agnes Scott College has been dedicated to the liberal education of women, and to the science of astronomy, offering classes in the science since the early years of the last century, building the on-campus Bradley Observatory in 1949, and significantly expanding and renovating the Observatory in 2000. |
