Agrajag is a piteous creature that is continuously reincarnated and subsequently killed unknowingly by Arthur Dent each time.
Agrajag first appears in the series as a falling bowl of petunias (although, if the books are read in sequence, the reader doesn't know it at the time).
Some readers believe Agrajag's character represents the futility of life or the mess that the Universe is in.

Agrajag was a video game programmer for the last American owned video game manufacturer, Cinematronix, Inc. (of Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, World Series, and Danger Zone fame, of which he helped with World Series and a big part of Danger Zone) which went bankrupt a bit over a month ago.
Agrajag was never in any major phreak groups except for The Hitchhikers (Bring your towel!) which was just a group of local friends.

These were the repeatedly immortal words of Agrajag each time he was killed by Arthur Dent.
Agrajag, for those of you who may not recall, was the central character of what I (and Eric also, I think) consider(s) the funniest chapter in the entire 5-book Hitchhiker's trilogy.
Agrajag was a creature destined, through myriad incarnations and reincarnations, to be killed in various ways by the character Arthur Dent over and over and over again for no very good reason, throughout space, throughout time.

I've often been asked exactly where I came up with such a strange name as "Agrajag"...
Specifically, it is first found in "Life, the Universe and Everything" (the third book), in chapter 16 (page 391 in The More than Complete Hitchhiker's Guide; which, by the way, is now slightly LESS than complete, with the addition of "Mostly Harmless" to the increasingly inaccurately named "Hitchhiker's Trilogy")...
To refresh your memories, if you don't have a copy of the book handy, Agrajag is the large, mad, fat, bat-like creature, who wants to kill Arthur Dent (because Dent has killed him in all of his previous incarnations)...
