Research Researchers from the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, Texas Tech University and the University of Texas have identified potential natural threats to imported fire ants and are further investigating to see if they will be feasible in controlling fire ants in Texas. Texas Department of Agriculture inspectors, along with researchers from Texas AandM, Texas Tech, and the University of Texas, have conducted imported fire ant surveys in counties that border counties quarantined for imported fire ants. Kiss mistletoe goodbye this season for better tree health Dr. Todd Watson, urban forest researcher at the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, points to mistletoe growing on a tree on the Texas A&M University campus. Watson said the trials were looking for at least 90 percent control in the 25 mistletoe plants treated in each group to be considered successful.
