Ah is based on the V1024 virus, and originated is (A republic in southern Europe on the Italian Peninsula; was the core of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire between the 4th century BC and the 5th century AD) Italy on May, 1991.
The Ah virus activates on Tuesdays, at which time it will attempt to format the first few tracks of the system (A rigid magnetic disk mounted permanently in a drive unit) hard disk.
Ah is believed to have been created by the same person as several other viruses from Italy, including Smack and Enigma.

Email messages that may have subjects such as "Confirmation" contain links to the virus, which is called "Bofra," "mydoom.ah," or "mydoom.ag." The messages deal with bogus PayPal charges or links to WebCam photos.
DoIT technologists are working on the problem by identifying ports that carry the virus and trying to block access to them.

Well, one strain of virus and lots of bacteria that is. Coupled with my now obvious allergic rhinitis in the mornings, I could definitely pass for the poster girl of cold and flu advertisements.
Despite the fact that I cannot really taste food (feed me sawdust and I'll probably say "mucho delicioso"), everything I love to eat and drink is bad for me right now.

Since it was a web based email thing I couldn't scan any of the emails (one would think the University would do that instead, but to my knowledge they don't) but they didn't have any attachments either (none indicated anyway) I didn't click on any of the emails regardless.
I searched a bit at Symantec's virus database and found nothing, though I may not be doing the right things.
what the virus does is when it is opened it does the address book serch andf then sends emails out from the computer.
