Hadith - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hadith (Arabic: الحديث, Arabic pl. ahadith; in English academic usage, hadith is often both singular and plural) are traditions relating to the sayings and doings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and his companions, or sahaba.
Hadith collections are regarded as important tools for determining the Sunnah, or Muslim way of life, by all traditional schools of jurisprudence.
Muslims who advocate following the "Qur'an alone" viewpoint are regarded as apostates or sinners by mainstream Muslim scholars, and by the vast majority of Muslims.

 52 Weak Ahadith
We must also keep in mind that according to the scholars of Hadith (Muhadditheen) the Ahadith are counted according to the number of the chain of narrators (Isnad) and not according to the text (matn) of the Hadith.
The weakness in a Hadith could be due the lack of continuity in the chain of transmitters or due to the lack of integrity ('adalah) of its narrators.
There are various categories of Weak Ahadith depending on what part of the chain of transmitters was interrupted and what lack of integrity is detected in a transmitter or transmitters of that particular Hadith.

 Muhammad: The World's Great Prophet
Ahadith generally refer to “the records of utterances, discourses, practices, usages, sayings and the way of life led by the Prophet Muhammad r ever since he assumed prophethood in the fortieth year of his life (609 A.C.) to the year of his death (632 A.C.) when he was 63 years old.” (M. izullah, 1972, p.1)
In their collection of Ahadith they were cautious because of the Prophet’s warning that: “He who deliberately and knowingly attributes to me something which I have not said will certainly have his place reserved for him In hell.” Great measures of diligence in the compilation of Ahadith were then observed.
There were people who fabricated Ahadith to create division, hostility and conflict in the ranks of Muslims.

So great was their attachment to their worldly master and with such intense zeal and devotion did they follow him, that if they saw someone ignoring or deviating from his practice, they would exhort him to follow it.
Their acts of devotion, daily prayer, and personal and social dealings thus proved to be the most effective means for the initial preservation and propagation of ahadith and the sunnah.
Thus what was done for ahadith and sunnah propagation in the second and third century Hijrah was based on the work of the sahabah.

The ahadith show us the diversities a single person can have, and the ways these diversities may be used to produce an optimal performance, where the performance is exemplary for future generations.
Although the most painstaking techniques had been employed to decide which ahadith should be included and which should be rejected there were found grounds for classification of ahadith.

 What is Riba - Introduction
Before examining the matter in detail, we set before the reader four indications from the Qur`an, authentic ahadith, and reason that show that the common view of riba might not be completely faithful to the sources of Islam and therefore needs to be carefully re-examined.
Thus some sahih ahadith tell us that on-the-spot exchange of two commodities of the same type is riba if the quantities exchanged are unequal while some other sahih ahadith say that that is not possible.
Our scholars sometimes base far reaching laws on the basis of ahadith that were known to very few people in the first few centuries, that is, gharib or ahad ahadith.

 Sahih Muslim Ahadith
When they are told that Imam Muslim selected 4000 Ahadith out of a total collection of 300,000, they think that since quite a large number of ahadith were unreliable, therefore, these were rejected, and then jump to the conclusion that the whole stock of Hadith is spurious and should be rejected outright.
Thus when we say that Imam Muslim collected 300,000 Ahadith and included only 4000 in his compilation, it does not imply that he rejected the rest of the whole lot of the Prophet's sayings being unreliable.
What this means is that the words and deeds of the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him) were transmitted to Imam Muslim through so many chains of transmission out of which he selected 4000 chains as most authentic and narrated the text on their authority.

Like the other Abrahamic religions, Islam teaches the bodily resurrection of the dead, the fulfillment of a divine plan for creation, and the immortality of the human soul; the righteous are rewarded with the pleasures of Jannah (Heaven or the garden of Paradise), while the unrighteous are punished in Jahannam (a fiery Hell).
A significant fraction of the Qur'an deals with these beliefs, with many ahadith elaborating on the themes and details.
