In 1973, Chico's elder brother, Ahmed Bouchiki, was employed in a restaurant in the resort town of Lillehammer, in Norway.
Ahmed was shot dead by an assassination-squad in front of his pregnant wife, as they came out of a cinema.
Ahmed's widow battled for twenty-four years, with her lawyer, against the state of Israel for a settlement.

Ahmed Bouchiki, an Algerian-born Moroccan citizen working as a waiter in Lillehammer, Norway, was killed by Israeli agents of the Mossad intelligence agency on July 21 1973, in what is known as the Lillehammer affair.
Bouchiki had been mistakenly identified by the Mossad as Ali Hassan Salameh, one of the leaders of the Black September, a Palestinian terrorist organization, which was responsible for the Munich Massacre.
Ahmed Bouchiki's brother, Chico Bouchikhi is a famous musician, and one of the founders of The Gipsy Kings.

Ahmed Bouchikis son, Jamal Terje Rutgersen, has never received a true explanation around the murder on his father.
Since I live in Norway, I have experienced the negative sides in the aftermath of the execution of Ahmed Bouchiki.

An e-mailer writes in to remind me about Ahmed Bouchiki - a Lebanese waiter in Norway who bore a strong resemblance to a Mossad target after the 1972 Olympic massacre and was killed.
This was an awful and tragic event, to be sure, and again, a serious work of art that could deal in the ambiguities of the situation might be able to portray the events in all their complexity.
Thirdly, "the moral responsibility for the death of Ahmed Bouchiki lies with the Palestinians".

All five were jailed for their part in Bouchiki's murder, and Israel went into shock.
