Suffolk Aikikai is affiliated with the United States Aikido Federation, under the direction of Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan, and the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Japan, under the guidance of the grandson of O-Sensei and the present leader of the art, Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba.
All the instructors and students at Suffolk Aikikai are encouraged to attend seminars and camps to learn from other senior Aikido Instructors, thereby increasing their knowledge of the Art, and being exposed to different viewpoints and styles in the application of the Art of Aikido.

Many traditional dojo follow a prescribed pattern with shomen and various entrances that are used based on student and instructor rank layed out precisely.

A celebration in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Aikikai Foundation and the 70th anniversary of the Aikido Hombu Dojo was held at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo on October 21.
The Hombu Dojo was originally opened in 1931 as the "Kobukan Dojo." It was the scene of the transition of the Founder Ueshiba’s art into what would later become modern aikido.
The dojo became incorporated as the Kobukai Foundation in 1940.

Keep in mind that the Aikikai was not setup to accommodate many live-in students in the late 1940s through early 1950s given its limited resources and the still small interest in the fledgling art.
It certainly can be said that he had a strong impact on the uchi deshi and students of the Hombu Dojo, but he was not the type of person who would follow a set teaching schedule and no one knew from one day to the next when he would appear at the dojo.

 Aikido in Korea
Aikikai Aikido is the mainstream style of Aikido (it is the style I generally adhere to) and the most popular throughout the world.
The style seems to be a mixture of Yoshinkan and Aikikai, perhaps explained by the fact that, as far as I know, they used to be affiliated to the Yoshinkan but are now connected to the Aikikai Hombu.
Their Hombu Dojo is in Tokyo but I trained at the Soke's house in Chiba-ken since I was lucky enough to find it in my neighbourhood.
