The first woman inducted into the Hall of Fame, Eaton was born in Vancouver, British Columbia.
One of boxing's most consistent promoters, Eaton staged weekly boxing shows at the Olympic and during her career promoted more than 2500 fight cards, 100 title bouts and 10,000 matches.
Eaton was named to the California State Athletic Commission in 1982.

Aileen Wuornos was the tenth woman in the U.S. to be executed since the reintroduction of the death penalty to the U.S. in 1976, and the second woman in Florida to be executed.

While it was commonplace for weekly cards to be held across the country in the 40’s and 50’s, by the 70’s and 80’s the Olympic cards were becoming more and more unique as a weekly attraction that produced top-flight competition as interest in boxing began to decline.

Joining Eaton in the 2002 class of inductees were four world champions from outside the United States -- heavyweight Ingemar Johansson of Sweden, Mexican welterweight Pipino Cuevas, light heavyweight Victor Galindez of Argentina, and Jeff Fenech of Australia, who won three world titles in three different weight divisions.
From 1942 until 1980, Eaton promoted more than 10,000 fights, most of them held at the famous Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles.

On his stepfather's death, Aileen Eaton, Gene's mom, took over ownership and management and promoted boxing and wrestling herself part of the time.
She was good at it, as rarely was there a bad match in the newly refurbished Olympic in the 1970s.
