Edmund of East Anglia: Life of Abbo   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-10)
Abbo of Fleury was born in the Orléanais just before the middle of the tenth century and began his literary and political education in the monastery of Fleury as a young boy.
According to Aimoin, Abbo's family had long-standing ties to the monastery of Fleury and his parents entered him in the monastic school there at a young age.
Aimoin, with the air of one who protests too much, was quick to refute any rumor that animosity between Abbo and Oylbold prompted Abbo's departure for England.

 Capet - LoveToKnow 1911
The real founder of the house, however, was Robert the Strong, who received from Charles the Bald, king of the Franks, the countships of Anjou and Blois, and who is sometimes called duke, as he exercised some military authority in the district between the Seine and the Loire.
According to Aimoin of SaintGermain-des-Pres, and the chronicler, Richer, he was a Saxon, but historians question this statement.
Robert's two sons, Odo or Eudes, and Robert II., succeeded their father successively as dukes, and, in 887, some of the Franks chose Odo as their king.

We know also that Cotopaxi, one of the highest volcanoes of the Andes, a chain which probably has a communication with the sea, has frequently thrown out fish in similar commotions.
It were the more to be wished that we had some particulars concerning the event related by Fredegaire, as well as by a later historian, Aimoin, of Fleury sur Loire, because the environs of the lake of Thun still exhibit phenomena indicative of a volcanic origin.
On <15> its southern shore, we find sulphureous springs near Leissigen; and on the opposite shore, near Beatenberg, soft bitumen is to be seen in the gypsum (sulphate of lime) close to strata of breccia, of which the rocks of the Wandfluh are composed.

Its legendary tooled leatherwork and silver filigree together with prosperous industries on the outskirts have pushed it to commercial prominence.
The Translatio Georgii, Aurelii et Nathaliae, in which Aimoin recounts the journey of Usuard of St-Germain to Cordoba in search of relics, and the use which Usuard made of Spanish material in his Martyrology, reveal many inconsistencies.
These are explained, by comparing these texts with Aimoins's Translatio Beati Vincentii and other evidence for St-Germain, as the result of attempts to bolster the monastery's standing with Charles the Bald at a time of political difficulty.
