Air Canada Tango was a discount airline launched by Air Canada in 2001 to offer no frills service on some of Air Canada's routes and to reduce operating costs at the struggling Air Canada.
Air Canada Tango aircraft were configured in a full economy layout rather than a business class cabin as on regular Air Canada aircraft.
Tango and Zip were both dissolved in 2004.

AC says that there is only a $15.00 fare difference between Tango and Tango plus//this may be the case Toronto to Montreal but not Timmins/Montreal return.

Air Canada reported one of the biggest losses in the airline's history Thursday, but said the further expansion of its discount arm Tango will help the company bounce back.
Tango, which launched in November, is growing to at least 16 aircraft, and plans to serve 21 cities by summer.

As Tango was only $129 and AC was over $500, I booked Tango.
I asked the folks at Tango if I could use this credit on my Tango flight and was told NO - it is issued by AC and we are 2 separate airlines, I can only use it on AC.
It occurs to me that Tango's official name is "Air Canada Tango." Seems like that would settle it once and for all.

According to reports from Travelmole.com, Air Canada has caused widespread anger among travel agency professionals by removing its Tango fares, the cheapest available, from all GDS systems used by travel agents.
"Clearly, Air Canada is intent on taking away the customer's right to the lowest available fare and the best service, which is found when booking with a travel professional," Christiane Theberge, Vice President of Public Affairs at the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA), told Travelmole.com.

This was my first flight with Air Canada Tango, and, they were very good.
The flight was on an Airbus 320, which had very spacious seats for a no-frills, or indeed any airline I have flown with in North America recently.
