Air Education and Training Command is a direct descendant of the Army Air Forces Training Command (AAFTC).
AAFTC trained 579,776 technicians in 1943 and in 1944 it trained 80,693 pilots.
Flying Training Air Force was formed as a subcommand of ATC in May 1951 and another subcommand, Technical Training Air Force, was formed in July of the same year.
