Air Malta is the national airline of the small island country of Malta, in the Mediterranean Sea.
Air Maltas history began on March 21, 1973, when it was created by a resolution of the Malta House of Representatives, and set up as a limited liability company on the 30th of that month.
Air Malta began service on April 1, 1974, with two wet leased Boeing 720s that initially served Rome, Tripoli, London, Manchester, Frankfurt and Paris from Malta's airport.

The results for Air Malta are nothing to write home about with the airline carrying almost 30,000 less passengers for the first quarter 2006 when compared to the same period last year and a total decline of 46,000 passengers for all of the airline’s financial year.
Air Malta’s financial year is April to March; so the 1st quarter results are the final set of data to complete the whole financial year 2005/06.
Air Malta reported that during the entire financial year (2005/6) it carried a total of 1.86 million passengers on its whole network, a decrease of 46,000 passengers (-2.4%) when compared to the previous year.

Air Malta Flight KM 4306 (25 May 2005) BHX - Rhodes - major problem - no inflight meals available on either outbound to Rhodes or home bound 1 week later (01 June 2005) to Birmingham (KM 4306) Passengers were very agitated and had to be calmed by crew.
On arrival in Malta, the entire flight was waiting at one conveyer belt, packed 3 deep waiting for the bags before they arrived.
Air Malta on 15th September 2004 from Birmingham BHX to Rhodes RHO return.
