During the 1980's Air Panama decayed in service, as they were only left with one single Boeing 727-100 by 1989.
After the US Invasion of Panama in 1989 the only airplane owned by Air Panama was damaged by gunfire, and was written off from service.
The Air Panama trademark was allowed to lapse, and the name (with a different logo from the original Air Panama) is now used for a domestic carrier (see external link below).
