Scotland is one of the few countries without a national or a low cost carrier and Air Scotland aspires to fulfil this role by establishing itself as a "Low Cost" airline, which offers affordable air travel for both, the Scottish public and visitors to Scotland.
Air Scotland current operation is the fruit of the joint efforts and co-operation between Air- Scotland.com Limited, a Scottish company and Greece Airways, which is a Greek company registered in Athens and licensed by the Greek Civil Aviation Authority.
Air Scotland launched its services and started flying on the 29th of March 2003 in co-operation with other airlines like Electra Airlines and Air Holland who failed to deliver the service and the standard, which Air Scotland was aiming to deliver to its passengers.

 Air Pollution: Scotland Says No, USA Says Yes
Scotland is taking steps to reduce air pollution, while the USA is taking steps to increase air pollution.
The toughest targets for particulate air pollution levels in the UK and new tighter targets for benzene and carbon monoxide came into force in Scotland on June 12 with the introduction of the Air Quality (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2002.
Scotland has set the new targets ahead of the rest of the UK, which is still assessing results of the September 2001 review of three pollutants from the eight identified in the UK’s Air Quality Strategy as being of particular concern for human health.

We have used Air Scotland fairly regularly over the last year or two to fly to Alicante.
You only get what you pay for and Air Scotland have been the cheapest flights around and we would certainly continue to use them, if they do not go bust before Christmas.

These Regulations amend the Air Quality (Scotland) Regulations 2000, which prescribe the relevant periods for the purpose of that review and set the air quality objectives to be achieved by the end of those periods.
Regulation 2(4) amends the table in the Schedule to the Air Quality (Scotland) Regulations 2000 (the air quality objectives table) by setting new air quality objectives for benzene, carbon monoxide and PM10 and by prescribing the relevant period for their achievement.
The new objectives are set out in the addendum to the Air Quality Strategy for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, to be published by the Scottish Executive in accordance with section 80 of the 1995 Act.

That review has to consider the air quality for the time being and the likely future air quality within the "relevant period" (a period to be prescribed by Regulations).

SX-BVN (cn 24497/228) This Air Scotland 757 was impounded by the BAA on Friday April 25th and the yellow de-icing truck behind it has been placed there to block it reversing out from Stand.
Electra Airlines were operating the flights for Air Scotland but the Airline sacked them so both 757's are impounded at the moment with landing fees still outstanding.
Air Scotland flights are currently being operated by Air Holland 757's.
