Air Mobility Command is the USAF component of the United States Transportation Command.
Air Defense Command, inactivated on July 1, 1950, was reestablished as a major command on January 1, 1951, when CONAC ceased to handle the nation's air defense mission.
Air Transport Command was inactivated and its resources were passed to the new command.

 Air Education and Training Command (AETC)
Air Education and Training Command is a direct descendant of the Army Air Forces Training Command (AAFTC).
Flying Training Air Force was formed as a subcommand of ATC in May 1951 and another subcommand, Technical Training Air Force, was formed in July of the same year.
ATC expanded to control forty-three bases in 1953, but by 1958 it had been reduced to twenty-five bases and again centralized, absorbing the three subcommands into the reorganized Command Headquarters at Randolph AFB, Texas.

Air Command and Staff College (ACSC) is the Air Force's intermediate officer PME school, preparing field grade officers (primarily majors and majors-select) and civilians to assume positions of higher responsibility within the military and government arenas.
Air War College is the senior school in the Air Force PME system and annually prepares more than 260 participants including officers from all branches of the armed forces, international officers, and civilians of equivalent rank from U.S. government agencies.

Air Education and Training Command, with headquarters at Randolph Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas, was established July 1, 1993, with the realignment of Air Training Command and Air University.
Air University, headquartered at Maxwell AFB and Gunter Annex, Ala., is responsible for professional military education, graduate education and professional continuing education, as well as precommissioning education and training.
Training in the bomber/fighter track occurs at NAS Pensacola in Navy T-2 and T-39 aircraft, electronic warfare officer training is a non-flying course at Corry Station, adjacent to NAS Pensacola, and training in the navigator track occurs at Randolph in the T-43 aircraft.

Personnel and Training Command, created on 1 April 1994 as a consequence of the RAF's restructuring programme, embraces all aspects of recruiting, training, career management, welfare, conditions of service, resettlement and pensions for RAF regular and reserve forces worldwide.
Royal Air Force Personnel and Training Command chose its badge the upper part of an Ionic column, thereupon an eagle, and as base, a scroll and key joined by a chain and adopted the motto 'Ut Aquilae Surgant' ('That Eagles Might Soar').
The scroll and key symbolising the Command's personnel and training elements are culled from the Badge of the old RAF Personnel Management Agency and Training Command respectively.

The Air Force ROTC two-year program and the last two years of the four-year program are the same at the professional officer course level; however, the entry procedures differ.
The first Air ROTC units were established between 1920 and 1923 at the University of California at Berkeley, Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Illinois, the University of Washington, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College (now Texas AandM University).
Air University became a direct reporting unit under Air Education and Training Command, and Air Force ROTC realigned under Air University.

The 47th Flying Training Wing at Laughlin Air Force Base is one of five Air Education and Training Command pilot training units and conducts specialized undergraduate pilot training for the United States Air Force.
It was the Army Air Force B-26 training base during the war and was closed in 1947, after the war.
In 1962, the base became an Air Training Command base and its mission for the past 37 years has been to train new pilots for the United States Air Force and allied nations.

In addition to primary pilot training, we are "winging" future U.S. Air Force C-130 pilots in the multi-engine T-44 turboprop, while the Air Force is training our future E-6A TACAMO (Take Charge and Move Out) pilots in their twin-engine business-jet-derived trainer, the T-1A.
The Air Force is fully integrated into our NFO syllabus, which is now providing all initial and some advanced training for all Air Force navigators.
The future of undergrad flight training looks bright as we continue transitions to new and improved platforms/systems along with continued refinement of joint training initiatives.

In 1986, I was assigned to Altus AFB, Oklahoma to train as Pilot in Command on the C-141 Starlifter.
After Pilot training, he was assigned as a T-38 Instructor Pilot at the 50th Flying Training Squadron from Oct 1980 to Oct 1983.
We were all Air Force Instructor Pilots at Pilot Training bases, we have a wide variety of training back grounds (2 T-37 Instructors and 2 T-38 Instructors) and we are all experienced pilots.
