Air gun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Spring-piston air guns are able to achieve muzzle velocities near the speed of sound from a single stroke of a cocking lever or the barrel itself.
Spring guns are typically cocked by a mechanism requiring the gun to be hinged at the mid-point (called a break barrel), with the barrel serving as a cocking lever.
Modern reservoir guns in larger calibers (6 to 9 mm) are often used for hunting small game in the U.S. The multi-pump and CO pneumatics have been popular in the United States, where they are known as "BB guns" or "pellet guns," depending upon the type of projectile used.

 Air Gun Shooting Overview
Air guns have been in use much longer than most of us think, and in a way can be thought of as a combination of a firearm and a blowgun.
For many shooters, air guns are still "starter" guns--typically smoothbore (without the “rifling”; inside the barrel that causes the bullet to spin) BB guns with short plastic stocks and sheet-metal sights.
CO2 air guns, as their name implies, are powered by cartridges of compressed carbon dioxide, either in the12-gram cartridge form or decanted from a bulk CO2 tank into the air gun reservoir.

 Air-Gun
A machine in which highly-compressed air is substituted for gunpowder tp expel the ball, which will be projected forward with greater or less velocity, according to the state of condensation and the weight of the body projected.
At every discharge only a portion of the air escapes from the ball; therefore, by re-cocking the piece another discharge may be made, which may be repeated for a number of times proportioned to the size of the ball.
By suddenly releasing the piston-valve, the elasticity of the rubber, combined with the pressure of the air, causes the sudden opening of the reservoir-orifice, and emits a blast of air to the rear of the projectile.

 Restoring air gun power
I knew one of biggest problems about air guns is the dieseling of oil inside the chamber and that once the oil diesels it becomes a sticky oil/tar and causes power lost to air guns.
Most Chinese air guns come flooded with oil and the oil they use seems to be regular motor oil, not cylinder oil.
To lubricate a spring piston air gun you first must cock the spring piston air gun, once cocked you lubricate the barrel and the chamber holes, the chamber hole is where the air comes out of, this is the pressure (piston) chamber is and this is where the piston with it's seal is.
