Air Scouts are members of the international Scouting movement, with a particular emphasis on flying-based activities.
Air Scouts follow the same basic programme as normal Scouts but certain amounts of time are spent focusing on air activities.
Air Scouts wear a slightly different uniform from the rest of the Scouting movement, with the introduction of a blue shirt and a beret.

The body that Rover Scouts first belong to is generally called a Crew, just as Scouts generally belong to a Troop and Cubs generally belong to a Pack.
Scout Network was introduced in 2003 to cover the age range 18 to 25 that much earlier had been the Rover Scout age range.
To further support the start of Rovering in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), the first Wood Badge course held in the United States was a Rover Scout Wood Badge course, directed by English Scouter John Skinner Wilson.

Air activities are open to all Scouts, Explorer Scouts, members of the Scout Network and Leaders, contributing to Air orientated activity badges and Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, as well as the progressive training awards of both "ordinary" and "air" Scouts.
Members planning to undertake air activities are required to notify Scout Headquarters (tel: 020 8433 7100) of their plans well in advance of the date of the activity.
A limited amount of air training materials, videos and air recognition slides are available from the Adviser; there will be a nominal charge to cover postage, etc. Gliding is one of the easiest ways to get airborne and can be arranged locally at modest cost.

The Air Scouts themselves, in line with the European craze at the time, spent most of their time flying in some 16 gliders or sail planes, presumably when they were noot helping to hand-stamp outgoing and incoming letters and postal cards with one of the variety of special air mail cachets.
The second type of air mail cachet was circular in design with similar wording in a circle surrounding a combined line drawing of a monoplane and a leaping stag.
The prime differences between these Type II cachets used for air mail sent to and from the Jamboree were that, for incoming mail, the airplane and stag faced left and the cachet appeared in yellow, while for the outgoing mail, the airplane and stag faced right and green ink was used.

Cub Scouting in the United States was finally introduced as Cubbing, an experimental program in 1930 with 9 year-olds in the Wolf Den, 10 year-olds in the Bear Den and 11 year-olds in the Lion Den.
A Scout earns his religious award after meeting criteria set by his respective faith, whether it is by completing a set of studies, performing so many service hours at his House of Worship, or a combination of both.
This was a historic event and shortly thereafter the National Religious Relationships Committee of the Boy Scouts of America approved of the wearing of the award on a Catholic Boy Scout's uniform.
