AirUK was an airline formed from the merger of British Island Airways, Air Anglia, Air Wales and Air Westward in 1980.
During the 1990s KLM acquired AirUK and renamed AirUK into KLM UK in the late 1990s.
In 2000 KLM used some of the KLMuk routes to launch low-cost carrier Buzz, which in turn got taken over by Ryanair in 2003.

Arutz Sheva - Israel National News
An Arab citizen of Israel who drove two suicide-bombers to the scene of a deadly terror attack in 2003 was sentenced to 42 years in prison today.
Muafak Airuk, 60, used his Israeli citizenship papers to transport two terrorists undetected from the Israeli Arab town of Um el-Fahm to Tel Aviv in January 2003.
Despite the fact that Airuk agreed to drive the terrorists even after they told him of their intentions, the court concluded that his action stemmed from financial and not ideological reasons.

I think it is a great shame, as many crew and passengers have said that an era in the industry is about to close.
I believe Air Anglia used a couple of Fokker F28 jets which also incoropated into the AirUK fleet which were replaced by a couple of 1-11`s which were transfered to the re-opening of BIA charter airline in the 1980`s which also added MD80`s.
All I knew from my knowledge of the airline history of the UK, was that bmi and AirUK, both independent upstarts were challenging British Airways on flights between London and Scotland.

 Airliners.net forum: Leisure Airways
In 1997 AirUK Leisure became a Wholly owned subsidiary for Unijet, so their relationship with AirUK ended, and the Airline began flying Charters as just Leisure for the company which owned them, Unijet.
I flew on AirUK Leisure 763 to MCO many moons ago, I think it was 1996.
I remember the flight very well because on our return journey home a lady in the front Y cabin had a heart attack and we landed in EWR and I can remember the emergency vehicles following us around the airport and then an ambulance pulling up along side and she was taken away.

Airliners.net forum: Air UK - Your Memories
I remember a friend flying from Leeds to Stansted to come back to school after the holidays with AirUK which operated a F27 at the time (I think).
Growing up in Cambridge, I also remember catching the coach from Cambridge to LHR to catch many flights and the coach always stopped at the 'old' terminal building at Stansted which was indeed very quiet - often there would be a single AirUK 737 on the tarmac next to the bus-stop.
I too remember the AirUK aircraft flying in and out of LBA back in the '80's.

 BA food is not delicious
If you think BA inter-Europe food is bad, I flew AirUk a few years back and was served greasy baked beans poured over a piece of bread.
I am afraid that no one else will be able to test your gastronomic experience, AirUK disappeared into KLM Uk some years ago.
It is true that some of their food was...different...however sonsidering that the last time that I flew the same distance in the USA, I saw the Economy passengers being given a nasty little bag at the gate.

Alaska Airlines has always preconfigured their airplanes to do the same.

The recline in front of exit rows are typically limited, as you know, but that depends on the actual location of the seats, and the regulatory minimums for emergency egress (ease of exit).
