While the activity and attendance levels at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2005 have observers convinced the general aviation industry is doing well this year, new sales figures from the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) confirm it.

Rutan has attended EAA AirVenture for many years, giving speeches and answering questions about his innovative aircraft designs and Voyager, the only plane to circumnavigate the globe non-stop on one tank of gas.
Voyager, which was designed by Rutan and flown by his brother, was displayed at EAA AirVenture in 1984 and again in 1987 after the successful flight.
Poberezny said SpaceShipOne would not likely be displayed at AirVenture this year because Rutan has said he plans to fly the spacecraft in August in California.

E.A.A.'s Airventure is the second biggest airshow for ultralights, with Sun N Fun being the premier show.
Pilots and aviation enthusiasts from all over the world make the trip to Airventure each year mainly to see the more conventional style of aircraft, the antique and classics, and of course the featured aircraft the warbirds.
Airventure also had something for the "young aviation enthusiast." Back in the early days of ultralight aviation we had aircraft called "Penguins." These craft couldn't actually fly but were used to demonstrate control inputs, throttle settings etc.

AirVenture week here in Oshkosh has basically two kinds of inclement weather: hot/humid or pouring rain.
The AirVenture site is reporting that Larry Flagg was the first to arrive.
Rutan also said he was "looking forward to a good event" at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh this year, including four forum presentations by Rutan, plus his Theater in the Woods evening program "Fun at Mojave" on Thursday, July 29.

This year, N724X was working well and Dad and I took it to the Velocity factory in 5/04 to (finally!) have the interior installed (See '2004 Maintenence' section for details).

The Concorde's visit to EAA AirVenture was scheduled to be a charter excursion with paying passengers booked to fly on the plane for one-hour flights, two each on Saturday and Sunday.
The Concorde, which last visited AirVenture two years ago, has been a big draw at AirVenture because visitors can get a close-up view of the sleek jet and watch it take off and land.
But there could be an impact on the weekend attendance since AirVenture often attracts local visitors who come just to see unusual planes like the Concorde.

With 48 hours on the RV and 2 weeks to go until the start of AirVenture, we were 'legal' to make the flight but I wasn't so sure I was mentally prepared to make the trip.
