Benjamin Quillen a Testimony - the Blount Web
Some air combat analysts have speculated that the use of ACM in a modern technological world is not necessary.
Some of the most persuasive arguments for ACM is the impressive history of the triumph of ACM and superior tactics amidst the changing technological field of air combat.
This conflict in the Middle East caused the United States to rethink their air combat philosophies regarding ACM.

NDM Article - Mobile Range Instrumentation System To Be Tested on Carrier
Air combat maneuvering instrumentation consists of sensor-equipped pods, carried under the wings of aircraft used in training.
A sophisticated air combat maneuvering instrumentation system is expected to arrive on the Navy’s USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier next summer, despite recent difficulties in the program, including delays and cost overruns.
In 1995, the Defense Department mandated that the program become a joint effort with the Air Force, which was seeking a similar capability for its combat ranges.

The Training Room -- Air Combat Maneuvering
Knowing where you are in relation to your target, and what how it is maneuvering, while still considering all other threats is called Situational Awareness.
Pilot skill involves not just knowing how to enter the fight and use weapons, but how to adjust tactics to an opponents skill level and aircraft capabilities.
The object of all ACM is either to get into position to make a kill, or to disengage from a fight and stay alive.

The high-speed yo-yo is a basic component of offensive air combat and reduces AoT at the cost of increasing the distance between you and your target.

While it seems plausible to those experienced in the air combat arena that situation awareness provides at least an indicator or marker of frictional imbalances at the tactical level, the two concepts are not coextensive.
Air combat experience going at least back to the Second World War suggests that surprise in the form of the unseen attacker has been pivotal in three-quarters or more of the kills.
It also strongly suggests that friction's influence on outcomes in air combat during World War II was not noticeably different in Korea's "MiG Alley," the Vietnam War, the Middle East in 1967, 1973 and 1982, or even in Desert Storm.

Chapter G3.3: An application of genetic algorithms to air combat maneuvering
The resulting maneuvers allowed the X-31 to successfully exploit its poststall capabilities against a conventional fighter opponent, demonstrating the ability of the GLS to discover novel tactics in a dynamic air combat environment.
The GLS, which was based on a learning classifier system (LCS) approach, employed a digital simulation model of one-versus-one air combat and a genetic algorithm to develop effective tactics for the unconventional flight modes of the X-31.

ACM: Air Combat Maneuvering - The science of maneuvering your fighter in such a way as to be efficient in using g, time, energy, maneuverability, and weapons to achieve a favorable position and outcome on your bandit.
Basically, while turning your fighter in a combat situation, you are trying to achieve one goal, destruction of the enemy aircraft.
Lag as an offensive maneuver is effective only against inexperienced or bad pilots, and should be used mainly as a way of preserving a neutral position on the bandit while trying to find and opening to exploit in order to convert to a weapons solution on the target aircraft.

Maneuvering too early may encourage an attack by exposing the aircraft to the bandit unnecessarily, while taking action too late will probably be fatal.
Aircrewmen must be able to differentiate quickly between a nonaggressive maneuver and a maneuver for attack, as this will be the first clue in determining whether or not the helicopter has been detected.
Furthermore, predictable actions may enable the enemy to maintain visual contact while maneuvering to attack.

 YF-17 Cobra - Military Aircraft
In the early 1970s the Air Force pressed for development of a new generation of lightweight fighters-single-seat jet aircraft "optimized" for agility and air combat maneuvering, with high thrust-to-weight ratios (above 1 to 1), and good acceleration.
By this time, the Air Force had decided to proceed with Air Combat Fighter (ACF) Program, based on flight testing of the YF-16 and YF-17 prototypes.
The Air Force selected the F-16 to be produced for the Tactical Air Command, and the Navy was directed by Congress to base the VFAX on either the YF-16 or YF-17 designs.

 Warbirds Gunnery Model
Thus the whole purpose of Air Combat Maneuvering is to give a "guns solution" or a high-probability shot in the shortest amount of time.
All the combat maneuvering and fancy flying in the world will not down a plane, only a gun (or in modern times a missile) will down an enemy plane, unless one considers colliding with the enemy a viable method of downing planes!
To do this a fighter needs to employ weapons, and the primary weapon used for Air-to-Air combat in WWII is the gun.

 Taiwan Headlines / CNA news
Taitung, Taiwan, July 24 (CNA) The air force's Chihhang base in the eastern Taiwan county of Taitung has completed a replacement of its air combat maneuvering instrumentation (ACMI) system to facilitate manpower training, a military spokesman said Wednesday.
If a conflict erupts in the Taiwan Strait, the spokesman continued, the military's ground control and command center will be able to guide its air crews into combat against enemy planes and to share combat information with U.S. military authorities.
The ACMI is a computerized three-dimensional tracking and recording system that provides enhanced safety for air crews training in aerial combat, air-to-ground weapon delivery, surface-to-air defenses and electronic warfare.

In this article, we'll discuss real-life maneuvers (although I'm going to assume you know most of the basics), situational awareness and the difference between combat flight simulators and the real cockpit where you feel the Gs pulling your guts.
If it is a combat simulator, there is no sense going up against enemy "aces" while you're still in the early stages of learning the new program.
We'll get to combat simulators later, but for now the answer for FS95 is a resounding, No! I've found a lot to do beyond landings and takeoffs.
